Fabric Samples

Bleached Samples: I used different coloured fabric and rubbed bleach on them in an attempt at getting a distressed surface.

Dissolvable Fabric: I took inspiration from the urban surfaces photos and built up texture and stitches to recreate this look.

I experimented with the peeling paint effect by painting onto fabric layers of ink, acrylic paint and glue then ripping the layers back off with tape. I also experimented with Devoré, dying the fabric in rust colours then scraping away pieces of material.
For my final garment I chose to use the rusted material above, made by mixing water and iron filings together and placing fabric in the mixture, as well as the dissolvable fabric and peeling paint for panels. I needed to refine the colours to flow with my final dress. in the end I didn't use the peeling paint as I thought it would be too much.
